It offers a wealth of tools and features to make it the perfect application for today's designer. The less you need to worry about the tool you use, the more you can focus on your ideas. Simply put, this class will make you a proficient user of Sketch.

ADPR 391: Get Nuclear with Atomic Design

Atomic design is blowing up around the world. It is transforming our web design practice and this class will bring the same creative combustion to your process too. We will explore the methodology for thinking of user interfaces as thoughtful hierarchies and how to integrate pattern libraries into your workflow.

Qualitative research is a conversation. It's about diving deep to understand desires, dreams and motivations of your audience. We'll focus on techniques and approaches that help you open up ideas that lead to insight and differentiation.

JOMC 391: 360 Storytelling

We know how to tell a story with conventional video. We know how to frame that story so the viewer sees everything we want them to see. How do we tell a compelling story when there is no frame; when there is no control over where the viewer is looking? With conventional video, we can move the camera, point it at where we want the viewer to look, and edit between shots to change perspectives. With 360, that luxury doesn't exist; viewers can look anywhere at any time. How do you effectively prompt the viewer to look behind them, or even beside them? Before that, how do you even determine if an environment is appropriate for 360 video? The 360 Storytelling class will explore the difficulties and possibilities of telling a story where the setting is difficult to control, in a format where the director and editor have no control over where the viewer is looking.

Help make this year’s national MobileMe&You conference on the UNL campus a success by running the conference’s Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts. Use social media to increase the number of people attending the conference. Plan and organize the event coverage. Live report the two days of the conference on all of our social media. Analyze and evaluate your work. Learn new techniques from conference speakers.

JOMC: 491 | How to get your drone license

Learn how to pass a Federal Aviation Administration test to obtain your drone license. Students in this course will learn side by side with professionals on how drones are being put to use in newsrooms across the country.
