The CoJMC has three upcoming opportunities for students to interview for internships at Lincoln Journal-Star, Dallas Morning News and Norfolk Daily News. Information on each of these visits is included below.

Lincoln Journal Star

Lincoln Journal Star Weekend Editor Alex Lantz will be on campus Thursday, Oct. 18 to interview students interested in applying for the newspaper's 2019 internships.

Internships with the Journal Star are open to talented, web-savvy writers interested in working closely with the online desk and public safety reporters. In addition to covering the cops beat and generating general assignment stories on the weekends, interns assist reporters in covering news events for the web - live tweeting, writing quick, meaningful updates and searching for unique ways to present content online. The Lincoln Journal Star has several newsroom intern openings for the spring, summer and fall semesters, all paid positions.

·Spring internships: Begin in January and end in May, part-time (10-18 hours/week).

·Summer internships: Begin in May and end in August, full-time (40 hours/week).

·Fall internships: Begin in August and end in December, part-time (10-18 hours/week).

Dallas Morning News

Breaking News/Justice Editor Matt Peterson will be on campus Monday, Oct. 15 to interview interested students, and applications can also be submitted online by Friday, Nov. 2. A cover letter and résumé with references are required with all applications, along with no more than eight newspaper clips or story links.

The Dallas Morning News offers reporting internships in local news, business news, features, editorial and sports. Internships are also available on our photo desk, at our Washington, D.C., bureau and at our Spanish-language publication, Al Día. All interns will be assigned to a specific department, but some could be asked to cover a narrowly focused beat.

Norfolk Daily News

Norfolk Daily News Editor Kent Warneke will be on campus Thursday, Oct. 25 to interview students interested in applying for the newspaper's 2019 summer internship.

This is a reporting and writing internship that lasts 12 weeks and includes an opportunity for the student to work on a major project toward the end of the summer. Ideally, applicants will be students who have completed at least their sophomore year by the summer of 2019, but all interested students are invited to sign up for an interview. Competitive wage offered, along with a $1,000 post-internship scholarship.
