Description:
The Coordinating Producer is a key member of the program leadership team. He or she coordinates all elements of On Being (production, scheduling, events, studio usage, planning) on a weekly basis and is responsible for maintaining and improving production standards and overall quality of program execution. This position is also responsible for hands-on budget management and grant reporting.

Position Responsibility:
Weekly production:
• Organizes and facilitates short and long term content planning, including tracking and organizing potential topics and guests, and researching books and program ideas as directed.
• Plans and communicates details of production on daily/weekly basis to team.
• Coordinates host invitation/events/correspondence/travel schedule.
• Coordinates aspects of program interviews, from contacting guests, interview logistics, research for host, and related follow-up as assigned.
• Coordinates aspects of remote production events as assigned.
• Provides editorial feedback on script, conducts fact-checks and writes copy for program promotion and other needs.
• Clears rights for use of audio elements.
• Assists Web Producer with weekly production including research, permissions, Web-exclusive audio elements, review of site and newsletter, and other related elements as requested.
• Supports program publicity in alerting individuals and networks about upcoming programs.
• Coordinates activity between On Being and APM shared services.
• Manages On Being’s award submissions process.
• Manages audience correspondence for the program.
• Other duties as assigned.

Budget management:
• Manages the On Being program budget, including preparing, tracking and reporting on the budget, and assisting with cross-division financial planning to meet strategic revenue goals and maintain effective expense management.
• Prepares the annual budget, ensuring it reflects priorities for the program, and accurately accounts budgeted revenue and expense.
• Works closely with APM Finance on monthly forecasting and budget revisions as necessary to account for shifts in program expenses, changes in timing of grants, and addition of new activities. Ensures accurate processing of production team’s expenses.
• Manages grant reporting, in partnership with Foundations Relations staff, including tracking progress on deliverables, drafting periodic narrative and financial reports, and preparing supplemental materials.
• Assists with grant proposals, including narrative and financial requirements and supplemental materials.
• Assists with the development and presentation of the On Being business plan and successful collaboration with other APM divisions in achieving its objectives
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
• Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
• 4-5 years work in journalism, radio and reporting environment preferred.
• Minimum 4 years experience in non-profit financial management, including budget preparation, analysis and monitoring, and integration of restricted grants.
• Experience in radio production, long form preferred.

• Ability to be flexible under daily deadline pressure, able to work effectively and collaboratively with hosts and other staff.
• Must be a self-starter and able to work diplomatically with peers, and senior staff.
• Ability to manage program team's calendar and work flow.

• Ability to write effective reports to funders and work collaboratively on grant-related communication
• Skill in planning, development, and fulfillment of successful grant funded projects.
• Knowledge and understanding of the delicate balance of interests between funding and journalism/media.
• Detailed oriented, and well-organized with the capacity to develop, coordinate, and report on complex projects in a fast paced creative environment
• Excellent financial management skills
• Strong coordination and planning skills
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Must be able to synthesize complex ideas and activities into coherent and compelling narratives.
• Facility with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or comparable

Preferred Skills and Experience:
• Experience in or knowledge of online journalism desirable
• Digital audio editing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of public radio helpful.
