UNL’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapter received three awards out of the nine it was nominated for at the 2019 Student Impact Awards on April 19. While there are more than 500 registered student organizations on campus, PRSSA was honored with the Outstanding Student Organization award. The chapter also won the Student Organization Philanthropy and Service Award for their “Scare Off Hunger” campaign for the Huskers Helping Husker Pantry+. The chapter partnered with local agencies to raise more than 600 food and hygiene items for the pantry. Additionally, PRSSA’s Bateman Case Competition team created the “IGNITE THE i IN IMC” campaign, an initiative to bring awareness of the diversity deficit in the public relations field to students and empower them to be the change they want to see. This campaign won PRSSA's third award, the Diversity and Inclusion Award.

Multiple members of the PRSSA exec team were also nominated for individual awards including Jamie Brunken for Outstanding Student Organization Officer, Brianna Frisbie for Outstanding President, Lauren Tritch for the Student Leadership Award and the chapter’s adviser, Jemalyn Griffin, for Outstanding New Adviser.
