CoJMC to offer media production option for broadcasting students this year

Broadcasting students at the College of Journalism and Mass Communications will now have a new option regarding their course of study.

Beginning this fall, broadcasting majors can enroll in the new media production option. The broader new option gives students a chance to explore and master the growing variety of digital video and audio tools and content production techniques that drive an increasingly visual society.

There are still two options available for broadcasting majors to choose from: broadcast news or the new media production option. The news option has mostly remained the same, but has undergone some changes to allow students more flexibility in choosing which classes interest them most.

The new media production option has broadened to allow students to explore more forms of media including social media, photography, user design and more. Students will still be able to explore video and television under these two options.

The college also opened up a broadcasting minor to any student outside the college. The broadcasting minor previously was available only to meteorology majors.
