Disposing of old technology equipment

Old Equipment
Old Equipment

Got a bunch of old technology items stashed away in your office taking up space? Now is the time to pull it out and properly dispose of it!

To make it easier for offices to turn in old equipment, the ONIT team will be in Kearney at Extension Fall Conference on Tuesday morning (November 14) for “curbside drop off” at the Younes Conference Center from 8:45 am CT until 1 pm CT. If you pull up to the front door and walk inside, there will be several ONIT team members available with carts to unload your items.

Below is a list of items that will be accepted:
• Computers (laptops and mini towers)
• Monitors
• Docking Stations
• Keyboards
• Computer mice
• iPads & Tablets
• External Hard Drives
• Routers, hubs, and cable boxes
• Cables
• Chargers
• DVD or Blu-ray players
• Speakers
• Headphones
• Earbuds
• Cameras
• Camcorders
• Office equipment (scanners, small copiers, printers, fax machines, typewriters, label makers, calculators, etc.)
• Empty ink and toner cartridges
• CDs
• Software media – floppy disks, CDs. etc.

We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to dispose of obsolete equipment.

If you are interested in participating, it would be helpful if you could complete this form (https://go.unl.edu/inventory-surplus-dropoff-form) in Excel format and email to Cathy Fox (cathy.fox@nebraska.edu) by Friday, November 10, 2023 so the ONIT members have some idea what to expect. It would also be helpful if you could include a copy of the completed form with the equipment when dropping off.

Thank you!
