Vaughn Hammond, Extension Educator, Kimmel Education & Research Center, Nebraska City, was recognized as having distinguished himself and the University of Nebraska through his service to the Nebraska National Guard and the United State of America by helping to advance agriculture in Afghanistan and working closely with the National Guard Agribusiness Development Team provided extension training in irrigation and livestock to the teachers of the Paktya Department of Agriculture. Hammond also provided expertise and experience in fruits and market vegetables helping to improve crops in Afghanistan. Vaughn and his family endured being separated during difficult times as he provided purposeful and mission-centered work, resulting in Afghan producers implementing new practices and seeing success in yield and income.

Jenny Rees, Extension Educator, Clay County, was recognized as having distinguished herself and the University of Nebraska through her service to the Nebraska National Guard and the United States of America by providing extension training. The resolution further recognizes that Rees developed training for the National Guard Agribusiness Development Team deploying to Afghanistan in crop and livestock production, serving as a point of contact for agriculture questions and information, and providing information back to the ADT members in the field within 24 hours. Jenny's positive attitude, expertise and knowledge helped to deliver purposeful and mission-centered, research-based education to people in need in Afghanistan.

Congratulations Vaughn and Jenny.
