The Nebraska Extension Disaster Education Network team continually strives to ensure that Extension is prepared to support Nebraskans before, during, and after disasters. Team members come from all Engagement Zones and represent all program focus areas, resulting in an engaged internal network that connects people, programs, and resources across the state.
This team meets regularly to share updates, track emerging issues, identify network resources, and coordinate communications. During active emergency events, they meet more frequently to help identify needs and resources that can be shared with colleagues and partners. As a team focused on operations, members are also encouraged to complete emergency management courses to better understand the common language used by our partners.
Nebraska EDEN connects regionally through Heartland EDEN (Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri and Iowa) and nationally through the National EDEN network. Our current national delegates include:
Ashley Ahrens, Sandra Barrera, Kim Bearnes, Jamie Bright, Soni Cochran, Ruby Collins, Owen Eickhoff, Kayla Hinrichs, Michelle Krehbiel, Katie Larson, Kurt Mantonya, Megan Patent-Nygren, John Re, Linda Reddish, Shannon Sand, Randy Saner, Gary Stone, Rick Stowell, Amy Timmerman, Mary Von Seggern, and Aaron Yoder.
In addition, Michelle Krehbiel is Chair of the National EDEN 4-H Youth Development Committee, and Soni Cochran, Chair of the National EDEN Marketing and Membership Committee and University of Nebraska-Lincoln Point of Contact to National EDEN.
The EDEN team is here to help all of us stay informed, connected, and ready to serve when Nebraskans need us most. https://disaster.unl.edu/nebraska-eden/. Please reach out to the Nebraska EDEN team member in your Engagement Zone and/or Program Focus area if you have any questions or have a need for resources.
