When disaster strikes, timely information helps Nebraska Extension understand what is happening in our communities and how we can support one another. ResponseNotes is a simple online tool that allows any Extension staff member to quickly report local impacts, request assistance, or share how you are helping your community recover.

In 2025, nearly 20 emergency-related responses were submitted by faculty and staff statewide. This is a strong step forward in improving real-time awareness. And remember, no report is too small. Even brief updates provide situational awareness to better understand what you’re experiencing and what your community needs.

What is ResponseNotes?
--------------------------
ResponseNotes is Nebraska Extension’s “touch base” system during disaster events. By filling out a short online form, you can:
• Share how your office, programming, or community is being affected
• Request help or relay immediate needs
• Report your local efforts to support recovery
• Provide updates as situations change.

You and anyone in your offices can submit as often as needed. Don’t worry about perfect writing, we’ll fix it up for you. Just tell us what is happening. We review every submission and follow-up accordingly.

Why This Matters - Quick, on the ground updates helps us, help you:
• track evolving all-hazards conditions during storms, outages, or emergencies
• identify where help is needed and coordinate support faster
• document our statewide response, address needs and situation updates for USDA, National EDEN, and Nebraska Extension administration
• show the impact of your work, even small actions contribute to community resilience

Your updates tell the story of Extension in action. For those of you who reported in 2025, your efforts helped demonstrate our responsiveness, strengthen coordination, and improve preparedness across the state. Thank you!!
