2013 Nebraska Grazing Conference

Presenters at the August 13-14 conference in Kearney are producers, professional farm/ranch managers and consultants, and university researchers. This year’s speakers from the Nebraska Extension community with which you will be familiar are Chuck Hibberd who will be giving the opening remarks, Karla Jenkins and Sean Whipple at PHREC and Jerry Volesky at WCREC.

Topics include indicators of ranch efficiencies, resource management and monitoring, managing grassland for multiple uses, insects as agents of improved rangeland quality and cattle production, managing two billion gallons of water, fitting grazing strategies to your environment, adaptive grazing on semi-arid range, cover crop and fall annual forage grazing, and much more!

Registration is $80 if postmarked by Aug. 1 and $95 afterward. One-day registrations are also available, and walk-ins are accepted. Reduced registration fees are offered for full-time high school or college students.

Watch for the conference brochure in the June Extension mailing. Details are also available at http://nebraskagrazingconference.unl.edu, or by contacting the Center for Grassland Studies, grassland@unl.edu, 402-472-4101.
