As you know, UNL Extension has been developing a plan to better position our work around meeting UNL’s Student Enrollment goals. As a result of what you have been telling us, and the dialogue from the May student recruitment update meeting, we are developing a structure whereby all Extension staff will have more opportunities for student recruitment efforts. As part of that process:
• The work will be led be a team of student recruitment coordinators (Brian Bosshamer, Karna Dam, Annette Haas, Mark Simons, and Amy Topp) in partnership with UNL Admissions and the Colleges’ Student Recruitment teams; we will no longer specify student recruitment contacts.
• The area where UNL Extension can best help achieve success goals if by focusing on younger students (that’s where we have the most access that others do not). Hence for us, success will include:
-- More contacts at the Office of Admissions based on Extension efforts.
-- On-going relationship building with potential students by Extension faculty.
-- Success stories of successful recruitment efforts.
• Tools (including a curriculum targeted at 5th & 6th graders focused on having them be “college ready”, a tool kit, and evaluation instruments) will be developed.
