Tadd Barrow, who’s been the UNL expert on toxic blue-green algae, has left the University. His position will be filled, although it will likely be broadened to include more water quality issues and it will take a while for a new person to be hired. In the meantime, individuals needing information about algae should be referred to the “Lakes/Ponds/Streams” pages on the UNL water website at water.unl.edu. These pages have excellent information, including a video that can help identify toxic algae. If individuals still have questions after viewing the web pages, they’ll find contact information for two faculty members on the pages.
