Virginia State University has the honor of hosting the 7th National Small Farm Conference, which will be held September 20-22, 2016, in collaboration with Virginia Cooperative Extension and the United States Department of Agriculture. The event will be held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The National Institute for Food and Agriculture (NIFA) is serving as the lead USDA Agency, with other agencies collaborating.

Anticipated conference outcomes include increased understanding of stakeholder participation; collaboration with stakeholders in developing tools that can be utilized to increase knowledge; training that will allow for easy adoption and use of new methods and improved technology; and strategies that will enable small farmers and ranchers to compete in the marketplace. Conference outcomes will result in the following impacts: improved quality of life; enhanced farm income and productivity; increased market opportunities; sustained productivity and success in farm transition by increasing the number of new and beginning farmers and ranchers; increased farm management skills; and increased production and labor efficiency.
