SciComm 2016 registration OPEN

Hello Science Communicators!

I'm very excited to let you all know that SciComm 2016 registration (https://marketplace.unl.edu/default/scicomm-2016-registration.html) is now OPEN! See the website (http://nescicomm.com/) & attachment for details.

This year we've expanded to a 2-day mini-conference with nationwide registration, September 23-24th, that will include:
• A broader impacts workshop from the National Alliance for Broader Impacts
• Science Night Live!, a public outreach event in The Railyard, downtown Lincoln
• A SciComm symposium, featuring: 1) Plenary from Tiffany Heng-Moss, Associate Dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources 2) Keynote from TED speaker Melissa Marshall! 3) Speakers from physics, biology, chemistry, museums, sociology, and K-12, describing numerous aspects of science communication--including innovative approaches, best practices, strategies for teaching controversial topics, and sociopsychological challenges to science engagement
• More networking opportunities with science communicators from around the country at a poster session/cocktail hour at the Nebraska State Museum and optional group dinners

Registration is free for the broader impacts workshop and Science Night Live!; a $20 fee for the symposium includes lunch, snacks, and swag.

Registration for the symposium will be capped at 300, so register today for this unique interdisciplinary event! You also have the opportunity to present your own outreach projects to the public at Science Night Live! or describe these efforts to your colleagues at the symposium (normal talk, lightning talk, or poster formats).

Please share this email and attachment with your interested colleagues. Hope to see you in September!

Best regards,
Matt Wilkins, Maggi Sliwinski and the SciComm Planning Committee
