Congratulations!

Liz Sarno was the winner of the “What Soil Means in My World Video Contest.” The name of Liz’s video was “Soil: Our Nation’s Greatest Natural Resource.” The contest was sponsored by the Soil Science Society of America (SSSA). Kurtis Harms also helped in the production. The video was on display at the SSSA annual meeting held in San Antonio, October 16 – 19. Congratulations to Liz!

National Association of Extension 4-H Agents

The National Association of Extension 4-H Agents (NAE4-HA) is meeting in Omaha this week. Registration is around 925 individuals. Anita Hall, Alan Vyhnalek, and Vernon Waldren are serving as tri-chairs of the planning committee. Many of you (nearly all of us) are helping through committee work or as a volunteer. The planning committee has really done a great job of providing for quality professional development opportunities and time to network with colleagues and friends in an enjoyable atmosphere. On Monday evening, the opening session was in the Orpheum. Tuesday night, our Ag Educators grilled steaks for the participants. On Wednesday night, States Night Out was held. I extend a great thanks to all the UNL Extension faculty and staff who have worked (and are continuing to work the rest of this week) to ensure that our guests have remarkable memories about their 4-H conference in Nebraska. I am really proud of the work that you are doing and feel honored to be a part the 2011 NAE4-HA conference!
