Nebraska Extension New Expertise System

This is a reminder regarding the new expertise system intended to assist clients, partners, and ourselves with accessing Extension resources. Please enhance your personal profile by describing your expertise, program responsibilities, key program resources, social media profiles, contact information, and more. When preparing your profile, please keep in mind your audience, which will be the general public.

To review and update your profile please link to https://epd.unl.edu/edit-profile/. As you update your profile, please keep the following information in mind.

• If your profile doesn’t include a personal picture, please add one using the link to Planet Red. It allows you to add an image not only to your Extension profile, but to other UNL related systems, i.e., Outlook email, etc.
• Please include links to your social media channels, i.e., twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, a personal blog, etc. Extension believes social media is an important tool for engaging the public.
• Identify all tags that identify your expertise. Currently, available tags are those that have been identified by issue teams and interest groups. If you cannot identify a tag you believe represents your expertise, please let us know using the available feedback form.
• You have the ability to include addresses representing your various office locations. You may only identify one of the addresses as your “primary” location. Also, be sure to confirm each address before saving profile changes.
• When presented a Nebraska map listing your accountability region, please check to make sure the information is accurately represented. If not, please use the feedback form to communicate any changes to the Dean’s Office.
• You may associate a resource(s) to your profile. These can include publications, links to websites, videos, etc. Please link to resources that help clarify your expertise. Also, be sure to confirm each resource before saving profile changes.
• The system will automatically link to your Activity Insight Profile Page for additional information regarding your education and academic credentials; however, if you would prefer to link to a different resource such as information listed by your academic department, please add the appropriate link.

Please review and upgrade your profile by September 14. Once we have collected profile information we will be ready to index the information to make it available for public access/viewing by search engines.

Video instructions for enhancing your personal profile may be found by watching the August 2018 of Tech Time with Angie at https://myextension.unl.edu/tech-time-angie.

If you have questions about completing and/or submitting your profile, you may contact Eric Buck, Angie Rushman or Dan Cotton.
