Midwest Soil Health Clinic - Aug. 22
Healthy plants start with healthy soil. This hands-on learning opportunity is for those who work with crops, turf, gardens and more. Topics to be addressed include: Management Considerations to Improve the Physical, Chemical & Biological Properties of Soil; Measuring Bulk Density, Porosity and Infiltration, - How it Impacts Soil Health; Physical Soil Properties – The Foundation for Soil Health; Cover Crops for Improving Soil Health; What is Soil Biology - Active Carbon Test; Soil Characteristics, Productivity and Landscape Position ; and Chemical Soil Properties. This training experience will be of value to farm operators and industry consultants, as well as home and acreage owners. Nebraska Extension Educator Keith Glewen states, “One of our objectives of this training is to communicate with participants the dynamics of the soil which includes physical, chemical and biological properties. Hopefully this information will aid urban and rural stewards of the soil to implement practices to improve soil health.” CCA credits available.

Midwest Corn Production Clinic - Aug. 28
See a growing season in one place - includes plots with soybean growth and development at a range of vegetative/reproductive growth stages. Nebraska Extension’s Midwest Soybean and Corn Production Clinics focus on current research-based production and management recommendations for improving yield and profit potential. The training is ideal for consultants, industry representatives, and growers. 8 CCA credits have been applied for and pending for each clinic. Discount available if attending both soybean and corn sessions.

The Midwest Soybean Production Clinic topics include: Cultural Practices; Genetics/Agronomics; Insect Management in Soybeans; Plant Pathology; Soil Fertility; IPM for Successful Weed Management in Soybean; and Irrigation.

The Midwest Corn Production Clinic topics include: Agronomy Cultural Practices; Genetics/Production: How much of the yield potential can be fulfilled?; Insect Damage on Corn; Plant Pathology; Soil Fertility; and IPM for Successful Weed Management in Corn.

Early registration is recommended to reserve a seat and resource materials. If registering for one clinic (soil health, soybean, or corn), cost is $115 for those registering one week in advance and $140 after. If attending both corn and soybean clinics, cost is $170 one week in advance and $220 after.
