The University of Nebraska College of Law is pleased to inform you that the 2014 edition of U.S. News & World Report has ranked Nebraska Law the #61 best law school in the country. This is a 28-point change since the last edition of the rankings.

Although the U.S. news rankings are not the only one way in which to evaluate a law school, we believe that this ranking is a long overdue acknowledgement of the strength of the faculty, students, and programs at the University of Nebraska College of Law. We are so proud of our law school and the great opportunities it provides to our students, in terms of the diversity of the curriculum, the expertise of the faculty, and quality of the community. Because we are a well-supported, state law school, we are able to provide this outstanding education at a very reasonable tuition rate.

The rankings also take into account career placement numbers. Even throughout the recession that began in 2008, Nebraska Law’s employment numbers have remained relatively stable. As you know from a previous edition of the Sounding Block, our graduates have found great success in getting legal jobs.

Above all, Nebraska Law remains an incredible value. As you know, we were ranked the #4 Best Value Law School by the National Jurist magazine. This is something in which we take great pride, as it means Nebraska Law students receive an excellent education at a reasonable tuition rate, which prepares them for the Bar exam as well as their chosen career path.

Congratulations again on your acceptance to the University of Nebraska College of Law and I look forward to greeting you in August! Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions about our programs or faculty. We want to be the place where your future begins.

Sincerely,

Susan Poser
