Participation in law school competitions allows students to build confidence in their lawyering skills while also interacting with classmates, faculty members and local practitioners. Annually, the College of Law has competitions that allow our students to showcase their talents in closing arguments, appellate advocacy, client counseling and alternative dispute resolution. Competitions require students to apply the theory that they learn in the classroom when they, among other things, perform research, draft briefs, and perfect verbal communication.
Students who participate in competitions have the chance to move on to regional and national competitions. Nebraska Law students have had great success at national competition over the years. For example, Nebraska Law Client Counseling teams have brought home 12 regional championships, 3 national championships and 1 international championship.
