The University of Nebraska College of Law is pleased to inform you that the 2015 Best Law Schools edition of U.S. News & World Report has ranked Nebraska Law the #54 best law school in the country. This is 7 points ahead of last year and reflects a 35-point climb in the rankings over the last two years.

Although the U.S. news rankings are not the only way to evaluate a law school, we believe that this year’s ranking demonstrates the positive momentum that Nebraska Law has achieved in building its curriculum and serving its students. It also reflects the strength of the faculty, students, and programs at the College of Law. We are so proud of our law school and the great opportunities it provides to our students through the diversity of the curriculum, the expertise of the faculty, and quality of the community. Because we are a well-supported state law school, we are able to provide this outstanding education at a very reasonable tuition rate.

Significantly, the rankings take into account career placement numbers. Even throughout the recession that began in 2008, Nebraska Law’s employment numbers have remained relatively stable. Our graduates have found great success in getting legal jobs. In fact, 87% of the Class of 2012 was employed in J.D. required or J.D. preferred positions within 9 months after graduation. That is nearly 12 percentage points higher than the national employment figures!

Nebraska Law also remains an incredible value. We are ranked the #4 Best Value Law School, for the second year in a row, by the National Jurist magazine. We take great pride in this because it means Nebraska Law students receive an excellent education at a reasonable tuition rate. Thus, our students are not only prepared for the Bar exam, but they can look forward to beginning their legal career with relatively low debt.

Some of these points about Nebraska Law are made in a Wall Street Journal Blog from March 11th. http://blogs.wsj.com/law/2014/03/11/the-upshot-of-the-latest-u-s-news-law-school-rankings/?fb_action_ids=10202535104757778&fb_action_types=og.recommends&fb_source=aggregation&fb_aggregation_id=288381481237582

Congratulations again on your acceptance to the University of Nebraska College of Law, and I look forward to greeting you in August! Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions about our programs or faculty. We want to be the place where your future begins.

Sincerely,
