In addition to the many opportunities Nebraska Law students have to gain practical experience at school, there are many possibilities locally and nationally.
Because the College of Law is located in the State’s Capitol as well as the County Seat for Lancaster County, our students have the ability to obtain internships and externships with the Nebraska Legislature as well as with offices of the Federal, State and Local government.
Lincoln and Omaha are also home to a number of non-profit organizations that open their doors to our students each year including Nebraska Appleseed, Legal Aid of Nebraska, and the ACLU of Nebraska. Our students also find unique intern and externship opportunities beyond Nebraska. Recent placements include a student who was a judicial extern for the Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico and another who spent her summer interning in New York City with the Center for Constitutional Rights. Many internship and externships are performed with non-profit organizations in the areas of public interest law.
