Prosecuting Child Pornography and Sexual Predator Class
Thursday, September 14
12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Auditorium

Child pornography and sexual predator cases present interesting questions about technology, cyberlaw, free speech, and computer hacking. The FBI and the criminals who make, distribute, and view child pornography are in a constant game of cat and mouse on the TOR network (aka Darknet). If you are interested in how the Department of Justice catches and prosecutes sexual predators on the Internet, come hear AUSA Mike Norris speak.

Assistant United States Attorney, District of Nebraska, Michael Norris prosecutes child pornography and sexual predator cases. He is the Senior Litigation Counsel and Appellate Coordinator for the District of Nebraska. He also serves as the coordinator for the Project Safe Childhood (PSC) Program in Nebraska. PSC was launched by the U.S. Department of Justice in 2006 to combat the technology-facilitated sexual exploitation of children.

The CDO is cosponsoring this event and encourages all student interested in government prosecution as well as technology issues and the law to attend. USA Norris will share how he got into the area of the law and offer insights to those interested in this type of career. Please rsvp to the CDO Group event in the BYC App by next Tuesday September 13. Stop by the CDO if you are unsure how to do so!

Fall 2016 OCI-Going on Now!

Bids for Session 3 were due on September 9, 2016.
Don’t miss out on the upcoming Resume Collections!
A few answers to the most common questions about interviews and employers.

Q: How do the employers choose which students to interview?
A: The employers will select students to interview based on the application materials you submit. Employers want to make sure that you meet their hiring criteria. If you are selected for an interview, you can be assured that you are in the running for the position. Students who do not meet the stated criteria or who submitted application materials with typos and grammatical mistakes are often eliminated at this point.

Q: Once the firm chooses me to interview what happens?
A: If selected, you will be notified by e-mail and you should then log in to ROSCOE and choose a specific interview time.

Q: What if the only times available are during my class?
A: Unfortunately, we cannot avoid all class times. Employers may be interviewing 20 students from your class and it is impossible to avoid conflicts. The sooner you log in the more likely you can choose a time that does not conflict. It is up to you to talk to your professors and make sure you know what the professor’s policy is for missing a class. As interviews are only 20 minutes you can often miss only a small portion of the class period.

These are great opportunities! Please take some time to see what’s available for you!
