From the Schmid Law Library

Keep it Quiet!

Please keep in mind that many of your fellow students are using the library to study, so please be considerate: keep your voices down and if you get a phone call, please take the call in a quiet place. You can use the stair wells for phone calls, or one of the phone booths on the first floor, but we prefer that you excuse yourself with you caller and take the call in the law college lobby outside the law library

Snacks and Meals

Please keep in mind that the library allows snacks in the library, but not meals. Please use your common sense about this and think about whether your snack will distract others. Please clean up any mess you leave behind.

Tax Notes! No longer available on Lexis or Westlaw

If you are interested in federal or state taxation, one of the best ways to stay informed of tax policy is to subscribe to Tax Analysts publications, Tax Notes, Tax Notes Today and State Tax Notes. These tools are standard current awareness and research tools for tax attorneys and professionals. (Tax Analysts was founded by disgruntled Treasury Department attorneys who were protesting the secrecy surrounding the department’s release of Private Letter Rulings and sued their own department under the Freedom of Information Act and obtained the release of Private Letter Rulings.) The publication used to be available on Lexis and Westlaw, but the company has decided to distribute its publications exclusively through its own website, http://taxnotes.com.

The publications are available from campus, but users must create their own free user account in order to register for daily and weekly newsletters.
