Emily Rau, assistant professor, University Libraries, with a start date of April 1, 2022, will lead the Willa Cather Archive (WCA), a project she has contributed to for the last eight years, the last four as Managing Editor. She now assumes the role of Editor of the WCA.

In addition to leading the WCA, Emily will contribute to the Digital Strategies department and the Center for Digital Research in the Humanities (CDRH) in a variety of ways. Already a CDRH Fellow, she will continue to be a leader of the Recovery Hub for American Women Writers, will participate in many departmental and Center initiatives, serve on committees and working groups, and consult with faculty and staff on a range of issues.

The WCA is a major humanities publication with a strong history of grant support, a pending NEH grant application, and commitments to several collaborators and student research assistants. The leadership of the WCA requires someone with advanced training in the field and a faculty appointment; Emily completed her PhD in American literature in 2021 and is herself a Cather scholar.
