Mitch's Memo - March 2021

Mitch previews some upcoming training opportunities.
Mitch previews some upcoming training opportunities.

I want to highlight some of the great training opportunities coming up in the next couple of months.

On April 2, Vista Training will have an online demonstration of many of their heavy equipment training products. This company has been around a long time and they are passionate about bringing safety and proper heavy equipment training to as many folks as they can. Vista can support our efforts by providing self-paced online courses, videos, instructor kits, and train-the-trainer resources. The hope is that our partnership with Vista will be really beneficial to your agencies. Sign up for this meeting to learn more.

I’m really excited about having the welding guru himself, Anthony Stampe of ALS Training, offering his services to us. You can check out his work at weldingtrainer.com. We have him scheduled for four online learning events, beginning on April 6, and have committed to bringing him out this summer for several onsite hands-on events. Let me know if you are interested in hosting Mr. Stampe and other government shop professionals.

Zelle HR Solutions began a three-part webinar series for us this week covering important professional development topics. In the first meeting, Jamie talked about emotional intelligence. This was meant as a foundational offering for future topics. Being aware of your emotions and those of the people around you helps in so many ways. Future topics include critical conversations, conflict management, and customer service. Added knowledge in any of these areas can help us all out. Jamie is a great trainer, I would encourage you to jump in any time.

For those of you who have bridges that need replaced or need some work, check out the online event happening on March 30. We have folks with us who will present information about rural bridge replacement & repair innovations. These are some outside of the box ideas to help get our bridges into better shape. Rest assured, we will have NDOT bridge engineers available to give us their thoughts on some of these strategies as well. Should be very informative, you won’t want to miss it!

Have a great month everyone!
