BSME Online Course in the Spring
Budapest Semesters in Mathematics Education (BSME) is designed for those interested in the learning and teaching of secondary mathematics. BSME participants explore the Hungarian pedagogy, in which a strong and explicit emphasis is placed on problem solving, mathematical creativity, and communication.
During the Spring 2022 semester, BSME is offering an online course titled: Guided discovery and online mathematics education. The main aim of the course is to learn about Hungarian style guided discovery and suitable online tools to support that pedagogical model. We will discuss the history and traditions of Hungarian mathematics education, gain firsthand experience on guided discovery both from a student and a teacher perspective, and examine related instructional practices.
The online course would be appropriate for those seeking an enrichment opportunity to supplement their regular coursework at their home institutions. We welcome in-service teachers as well.
We're currently accepting applications for the online course. It is reviewed on a rolling basis, so students are encouraged to apply early. The application deadline is Friday, January 21, 2022. More information, including the online application, can be found at https://bsmeducation.com/spring-2022-online-overview/.
