Born in Ankara, Turkey, Serdar Arat earned his BA degree at Bogaziçi University in Instanbul before moving to New York in 1980 where he completed MA and MFA degrees in Painting at the State University of New York, Albany. His artwork is the subject of numerous publications, and he has widely exhibited his work in both Turkey and the U.S. Arat was Emeritus Professor of Art at Concordia College--New York from 1993-2017 and continues to lecture in the New York area.
