Combinatorics and Coding Theory in the Tropics REU

Welcome to the REU “Combinatorics and Coding Theory in the Tropics”! This REU will be held at the University of Puerto Rico in Ponce during June and July 2023. We shall work with 12 students on several research projects. Our research projects include coding theory, combinatorics, graph theory, permutation patterns, locally recoverable codes, DNA barcoding, codes from finite geometries and others. We seek applicants from varied backgrounds (both academic and personal) to build a diverse research community. We offer a $5,400 stipend, lodging and travel. Students from underrepresented groups and females are strongly encouraged to apply.

Eligibility Requirements
