Spring 2025 Pre-Session Courses
During the Spring 2025 Pre-Session, the Math Department is planning to offer three Math courses and one additional course with the Department of Electrical and Computing Engineering:
- Math 203: Contemporary Mathematics (3 credit hours)
This is an ACE 3 course and a potentially required course for the Data Science major, and it will be taught by Dr. Allan Donsig.
- Math 391: Special Topics in Mathematics (Mathematics of Machine Learning, 3 credit hours)
This special topics course will cover the Mathematics of Machine Learning, and the course should be broadly applicable to many Math major options and the Data Science major. This course will be taught by Dr. Levi Heath. Check back for more information about prerequisites.
- Math 398: Research Experience in Mathematics (2 credit hours)
This experiential learning course will provide an initial research experience in topology, and it will be taught by Dr. Roman Aranda.
- ECEN 498: Research in Electrical Engineering IV (Quantum Programming for STEM, 1 credit hour)
This research experience course will be co-taught by Dr. Christine Kelley from Mathematics and Dr. Laura Wang from Electrical and Computer Engineering. Check back for more information about prerequisites.

The Spring 2025 Pre-Session will start on Thursday, January 2nd and run through Friday, January 17th. Most Spring 2025 Pre-Session courses will be taught fully online or online via Zoom. The full Spring 2025 session will start on Tuesday, January 21st after the Martin Luther King Day holiday.
