CPBS Courses Still Available for Summer 2025!

Cedar Point Biological Station is gearing up for a packed season of field-based courses and research—and there's still time to join the action!

Scholarships are still available! Scholarships can help cover food & housing at Cedar Point. If students sign up for a class, they will be required to pay a $100 deposit to hold their spot in the class. This non-refundable deposit will go towards food & housing fees. Scholarships can be applied towards remaining food & housing costs. See Student FAQs at the bottom for links to learn more about Cedar Point fees and financial aid.

Seats are open across most courses, but here are some particularly interesting course options:

Literature & the Environment (ENGL 317)
• May 25-June 6
• ACE 5

Predator Ecology (BIOS 453/853) **At risk of cancellation, need 1 more student
• June 15-July 4
• Prerequisite: BIOS 207 or NRES 220
• Possible requirement of the Math major’s Mathematical Biology option
• ACE 10

Ecology & Evolution (BIOS 207)
• June 15-July 4
• Prerequisite: LIFE 121/L
• Possible requirement of the Math major’s Mathematical Biology option
• Fulfills BIOS major and minor requirement

Fundamentals of Biology II (LIFE 121)
• July 27-August 15
• Prerequisite: LIFE 120/L
• ACE 4
• Requirement of the Math major’s Mathematical Biology option
• Possible course for the Geology major’s Additional Science courses requirement

Additionally, Professor John DeLong (Director of CPBS) will be leading a new special topics travel course where students will collect and analyze biodiversity data from private land, state parks, and wildlife refuges around the Sandhills. The group will camp at assorted sites and take a guided canoe trip on the Middle Loupe.

Where is Cedar Point Biological Station? Cedar Point is in western Nebraska near Lake McConaughy and Ogallala. That's about a 4 hour drive from Lincoln.
How much does it cost to take a class at Cedar Point? You can use the Cedar Point Fee Calculator to estimate the cost of taking a class at Cedar Point. Please note: room & board scholarships are still available! Click HERE to learn more about applying for the scholarship.
This sounds great! How do I sign up for classes? Check that you have the pre-requisites or instructor approval for the classes you wish to enroll in, then complete the Online Registration Form and pay a non-refundable $100 deposit for each class you want to enroll in. The $100 deposit will be applied to your room and board costs.
