Hello Math Majors,

Welcome to the fifth week of the fall semester. At the end of this week, we will already be roughly one third of the way through the fall semester. I know that you are likely having exams in your classes or your first big assignments are due. If you are having any issues with time management when it comes to completing large assignments or studying for those upcoming exams, a trip to the First-Year Experience office could be just the boost that you need.

Contrary to popular belief, the First-Year Experience and Transition Programs (FYE) office isn't just for first year students. The FYE Office can help any student develop their academic skills for any classroom settling. The FYE Office runs a Success Workshop series that offers assistance in time management, note taking skills, reading strategies, test preparation, and more. If you need help with specific classes, the FYE Office has the Study Stop program in the Adele Learning Commons. At the Study Stop, you can get assistance with several courses on Mondays thru Thursdays from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The FYE Office has also put together a number of handouts and brochures with useful information to help you as a student. Lastly, the FYE Office has resources concerning the Academic Recovery Jumpstart, which is required for students on probation. In addition to all of these resources, the FYE Office also takes appointments with students daily, and you can schedule an appointment with Academic Success Coach through MyPlan. Having worked with the FYE Office, I can tell you that the Academic Success Coaches, Lori, Ann, Kassi, Ashlee, and Dan, are fantastic people, and they really want to help you be the most successful student possible.

For those of you planning to graduate in December, please remember that the last day to apply for graduation through MyRed is Friday, September 28. Having questions about the graduation application or graduation in general? Please visit https://registrar.unl.edu/student/commencement/application/ or come see me as soon as possible.
