SEAS Officer Nominations

SEAS elections are approaching!

Clark Ward, SEAS President, is calling for nominations one last time before elections proceed. There are currently no nominations for the President position or the Student Success Program Chair. A description of each position is below for those that are unsure which would be the best fit.

President: The President will organize and lead regular meetings. The President will be responsible for coordinating efforts with other student-based groups and will be responsible for delegating task to officers and committees. Nominees for President should be an EAS graduate student during the 2020-2021 academic year.

Vice President/Events Coordinator: The Vice President will act in place of the President in their absence. The Vice President will additionally serve as Events Coordinator. The Events Coordinator is responsible for organizing and advertising group events, including social events, outreach events, and professional development opportunities.

Treasurer: The Treasurer will be responsible for all funds raised by SEAS efforts and will be responsible for maintaining the organization’s financial records. The Treasurer will also coordinate fundraising efforts in conjunction with Events Coordinator.

Secretary: The Secretary will take notes during meetings and distribute meeting minutes. The Secretary will also be responsible for disseminating relevant information to SEAS members

Social Media Chair: Social Media Chair should work in conjunction with the Secretary. The Social Media Chair is responsible for maintaining the SEAS website as well as SEAS’ presence on social media including Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Student Success Program Chair: The Student Success Program Chair will operate the independent Student Success Program. This Program is aimed for professional development, such as attending conferences, poster design and development, internship and job searching, how to apply to graduate programs, etc.

Each position is flexible and can be altered to each person’s strengths and schedules.

Any graduate or undergraduate student with a major in EAS may become a nominee, provided they plan on being present in the department for the 2020-2021 academic year. Officer duties are somewhat flexible, depending on an individual’s skills and interests. While officers must win election, any EAS student who wishes to participate in SEAS will be able to do so.
