LANL Climate Measurement Facility Position
What You Will Do
Interested in the earth’s climate and how we make measurements of it? Join our team to learn how we support climate science by making state-of-the-art measurements of our atmosphere. The Earth System Observations Group in the Earth and Environmental Sciences (EES) Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) has an opening for an internship with the Field Instrument Deployments and Operations (FIDO) Team. We support the US Dept. of Energy’s ARM scientific user facility by deploying atmospheric research instruments to field locations located around the globe. You will gain experience in project planning and management, hands-on work with sophisticated instruments, opportunities to solve mechanical and electronics problems, and get to work with a world-class research facility.
The position is located in Los Alamos, NM.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in STEM
• Interest in instruments, measurements and science project leadership
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Technical problem-solving skills
Education: A bachelor’s degree in an engineering or scientific/STEM discipline completed within the past 3 years, but have not been accepted and enrolled in a graduate program.
em>Desired Qualifications:
• Experience in meteorology, atmospheric measurement instruments ( weather radars, lidars, and aerosols)
• Experience with GIS software, 2D drafting or 3D modeling CAD software
• Experience with networking and computer infrastructure or website development
• Project management experience

The position will be for one year with an opportunity for a second year with satisfactory performance. After one year, students are eligible to apply for internal LANL positions.
