METR 450/850: Climate and Society for Spring 2022!
For students who want to assess and describe the effects of climate variability and extreme climate events on human activities and natural resources management, and how human activities impact climate.
METR 450 will count toward the 12 hours of 400-level Meteorology-Climatology elective courses that are required for the major!
Learning Outcomes:
1. Recognize how climate impacts differ between countries and how societies prepare for and respond to these events.
2. Comprehend the basic science of climate change and the complexity of potential impacts on economic sectors and the environment.
3. Understand risk assessment methodologies employed by stakeholders to reduce the impacts of extreme climate events.
Prerequisite:
- Junior standing or above.
