Students of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (SEAS) Announcement
Hello Earth and Atmospheric Science Students,
My name is Ryan Martz, and I am the current secretary of the RSO SEAS (Students of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences), and we are looking for officer nominations for the 2022-23 school year. The available positions are President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. While it has not been very active this year, SEAS is an RSO for all of the geology and meteorology students at UNL and is a way to get to know the other students in the department who you may not get to see much of otherwise.
SEAS will typically have monthly meetings and possible field trips throughout the academic year, and it behaves similarly to AMS or AAPG if you are apart of your major specific club. In the past, events have included a bad geology/meteorology movie night, a pumpkin decorating contest, a tour of the capital building, and a department picnic (and there will be a picnic this year! More information to come on that so that we don’t overload you in this email)
Being in a leadership position with SEAS is a great way to enhance your resume, and you’ll get to have control over how it functions after its covid hiatus. You can nominate yourself for any/all positions, and you can accept nominations for more than one position. Nominations must be sent to kristen.guthrie@huskers.unl.edu by Monday, April 25th at 11:59 pm along with a short few sentences to a paragraph bio about why you should be elected, and we will hold the elections during the following week until Monday, May 2 through a google form. Please consider running for at least one position!
Best,
Ryan
