Meteorology-Climatology Student Spotlight
Name: Caitlyn Scott
Major: Meteorology-Climatology
Year in School: Sophomore
Where are you from?
Hastings, Nebraska
What gets you excited about Meteorology-Climatology?
I love knowing more about the world around me. Being a meteorologist excites me because I can make a difference by helping those around me prepare for approaching weather.
Favorite Meteorology-Climatology class or instructor so far? Why?
My favorite class has been METR 223: Intro to Atmospheric Science. I liked this class because we learned about many different elements of weather including severe storms. I also liked how it expanded upon our previous courses but was more personalized to a much smaller group of students with similar interests.
What are you excited about doing after graduation?
I am excited about pursuing a career in meteorology, hopefully at the National Weather Service, where I can serve people in their everyday lives. I also am excited to explore more of the world around me by traveling to different National Parks across the country.
What is a goal you have accomplished as a Husker?
No response given.
What do you wish you would have known when you started as a Meteorology-Climatology Major that you know now?
I wish I knew that I didn’t have to wait till college to learn more about the weather. There are many online resources available, such as forecast models and satellite images, to learn more.
What do you hope to cross off your “bucket list” in the next few years?
One thing on my college bucket list is to attend at least one event for every Nebraska athletic team. In the next few years, I also want to travel to more National Parks or historical landmarks.
