50th Annual Northeastern Storm Conference

Greetings!

It is with great pleasure that the Vermont State University - Lyndon Local Chapter of the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association invites you to attend the 50th Annual Northeastern Storm Conference (NESC). The conference will be held from Friday, March 14th through Sunday, March 16th, 2025 at the Hilton Albany in Albany, New York. We hope you’ll take the time to join us for our milestone conference.

First off, I am excited to announce the following passionate and successful individuals as the keynote speakers for this year’s NESC. Kicking off our conference on Friday night is Amanda Curran, a weekday meteorologist at WSFA 12 News in Montgomery, Alabama, where she has earned multiple awards for her weather coverage. She holds a degree in Atmospheric Sciences and Television Studies from Lyndon State College and is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist. Our Saturday evening keynote speaker is Ken Graham. Ken is the Director of NOAA’s National Weather Service and also serves as the Assistant Administrator for Weather Services at NOAA. He previously held the role of Director of NOAA’s National Hurricane Center, where he led the nation through the record-breaking 2020 Atlantic hurricane season. Our Sunday morning keynote speaker will be announced in the coming weeks.

If you are interested in presenting a paper or poster at this year’s conference, the abstract submission period will open on December 2nd, 2024, and close on February 14th, 2025. An official call or papers will be sent out in the coming weeks. Conference registration will open on December 2nd, 2024, and will occur online.

Professional development opportunities throughout this conference include, but are not limited to, resume review and demo reel critique. A full schedule of events will be posted to our website as we get closer to the conference. If you are interested in participating in the resume review or demo reel critique workshops, please upload your resume in PDF format and/or demo reel as a link to a Google Drive or YouTube video when registering. We are also in need of professionals who can review student resumes. If you are interested, please indicate so on your registration.

Stay up to date on NESC through our website and social media, including the “Northeastern Storm Conference” Facebook page. Updates will come throughout the months leading up to the conference. If you have questions, please contact me using the information below.

Sincerely,
Andy McKeen (They/Them)
