Director’s Message, Karrie A. Weber, Ph.D.

Welcome to the start of the 2021-22 academic year in the Microbiology Program! Despite the continuing pandemic and recent rise in cases of COVID-19, the start of another year brings excitement and promise. This year is no exception. We are looking forward to an exciting year that includes a new Microbiology research symposium on November 12 (save the date) as well as Microbiology Club activities. These events will provide additional opportunities to learn more about the microbial and viral world and allow you to explore an area of your interest and inspire career development.

As a reminder, we are here to support you and your success at the UNL. Please do continue to explore the many courses that are offered and speak with your advisors and Dr. Brandi Sigmon, the program’s Academic Success Coordinator, to explore all the experiential learning opportunities available to you. If you face any challenges, please do not hesitate to reach out to any of us in the Microbiology Office. We will do our best to assist you or facilitate a solution. Of course if you just want to drop by and say Hi, our door is open!
