Railyard becomes new home one of UNL’s Friday Pep Bands

The Railyard will be a new home for one of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Friday night Pep Bands this season.

“We’re excited to have the Pride of All Nebraska here in the Railyard for two performances each home game Friday,” said Chris Gorman, Director of Operations and Sports Marketing for Hurrdat and Hail Varsity. “We want this to be a special place for Cornhusker fans from all over the country. We couldn’t think of a better way to get ready for game day than having THE Cornhusker Marching Band here playing their favorite songs at the Hail Varsity Pep Rally.”

Cornhusker Marching Band Director Tony Falcone added, “We’re thrilled to enter into this partnership with Hail Varsity at the Railyard, and look forward to seeing lots of Husker fans join us on Game Week Friday Nights!”

Eighteen members of the Cornhusker Marching Band take part in the Hail Varsity Railyard Band. They include: 1 Piccolo; 1 Clarinet; 1 Alto Sax; 1 Tenor Sax; 4 Trumpets; 2 Mellophones; 3 Trombones; 1 Baritone; 1 Tuba; 3 Percussion. They play a couple of sets on the Friday nights before home football games. The two 25-minute sets are comprised of a mixture of Husker fight songs, cheers and up-tempo pop music. The Railyard sets will be at 6 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.

There are two other pep bands that take part in the tradition in other parts of Lincoln including the Misty’s Pep Band and the Football Friday Band.
