The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music’s Symphony Orchestra will be going on tour October 11-13, 2019.
The tour begins with a 7 p.m. performance at the Norfolk Arts Center, 305 N. 5th Street in Norfolk, NE on Friday, October 11. After spending the night in Norfolk, the ensemble will travel to Rapid City, South Dakota for a 7:30 p.m. performance at Central High School, 433 Mt. Rushmore Road on Saturday, October 12. The UNLSO will then travel back to Lincoln on Sunday.
Pieces to be performed on the tour include: Dukas: Fanfare for La Péri; University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music’s Greg Simon: Promise Me You Won’t Believe A Single Word; Mozart: Horn Concerto No. 3 (GKSOM’s Alan Mattingly, horn) and Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 5 in E minor.
Members of the Symphony Orchestra, directed by Tyler White, include students from throughout the university. The ensemble’s objectives are to prepare and present a wide variety of repertoire including chamber, symphonic, and operatic masterworks, and to maintain professional standards of musicianship and etiquette within a collegial and supportive educational atmosphere. The Symphony Orchestra is one of the Glenn Korff School of Music’s most active performing organizations, presenting concerts both on and off campus throughout the academic year.
