In a concert titled “OUR SEASON’S CHANGING LIGHT,” music is chosen to reflect change, progress, and unity as the University Singers, All-Collegiate Choir and Bellevue East High School perform at the Newman Center Church (320 North 16th Street) on Thursday, October 24 at 7:30 p.m.
A special guest high school choir from Bellevue East High School, under the direction of UNL alum, Dr. Marjorie Simons-Bester, will contribute to the center portion of the performance and join all choirs with a new version of the classic text “Let All the World in Every Corner Sing.”
For the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music’s All-Collegiate Choir, the central work is Howard Hanson’s “Song of Democracy.” The choir will also perform music of American composers, Aaron Copland, Laura Farnell, and Brent Pierce.
University Singers will perform Daniel Elder’s “October Sun,” Ola Gjeilo’s “Evening Prayer,” and a seminal English madrigal “Draw On, Sweet Night,” by John Wilbye.
The performance is free and open to the public.
