Rebecca Fischer, violinist of the acclaimed Chiara String Quartet, presents a recital of all unaccompanied violin music on September 10 in UNL's Kimball Recital Hall. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

"Last year I fell in love with both the Telemann Fantasies and Lisa's Bielawa's ‘Kafka Songs’ and knew I had to program them on a solo recital. Both pieces share a sense of fantasy and exploration,” Fischer said. “The Bielawa is quite unusual, in that I play and sing at the same time; I think listeners will enjoy following the profound and witty texts from Kafka's ‘Meditation’, the inspiration for Bielawa's piece."

The program features "Kafka Songs" by Rome Prize-winning composer Lisa Bielawa, written for "singing violinist," in which the performer sings and plays simultaneously. Ms. Fischer will also perform six of Telemann's Fantasies for solo violin using a baroque bow.
