An Evening of Choirs, featuring the All-Collegiate Choir, the Varsity Men’s Chorus and the University Chorale, will take center stage at 7:30 p.m. on October 13 at Kimball Recital Hall on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus.

University students, employees, and Lincoln area community members will join vocal forces as the All-Collegiate Choir to present selections ranging from the early Renaissance with Guillame Dufay’s “Gloria ad modum tubae” to Craig Hella Johnson’s arrangement of Carly Simon’s 1989 Grammy Award winning “Let the River Run.” They will also perform “Sing Dem Herrn” (Michael Praetorius), “Ave Verum Corpus” (W.A. Mozart), and “The Word Was God” (Rosephanye Powell).

The University Chorale will continue its tribute to music For, About, and By women [FAB!] featuring works by Leonard Bernstein, Debra Scroggins, Yoojin Muhn, and others; and poetry from Emily Dickinson, John Keats; and a folk song arrangement based on the story of “Queen Jane” - Jane Seymour, the third wife of King Henry the VIII.”

The Varsity Men’s Chorus will feature a special version of the “Star Spangled Banner” commemorating the 200th anniversary this fall of the writing of the famous text. They will also feature several other musicians as they perform traditional male-chorus favorites from traditional fight songs through Jamaican tunes and massed choral works.
