The University Chamber Singers will present “BLESSINGS OF BLUE”, the first concert in their Sheldon Museum of Art 2014-2015 Concert Series, on November 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sheldon Great Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
The centerpiece of this concert will be the performance of Carol Barnett’s THE WORLD BELOVED: A BLUEGRASS MASS, featuring the Chamber Singers and Bluegrass Band. Other works of “blessing” and “blue” will include Stanford’s THE BLUEBIRD, Miskinis’ CANTATE DOMINO, Palestrina’s I VAGHI FIORI [the graceful flowers], DOWN TO THE RIVER TO PRAY [From the film, “O Brother Where Art Thou?”], Paulus’ THE ROAD HOME, and the premiere of a new work, TAKE THY REST, composed by a member of the Chamber Singers, Charlie Leftridge.
