Jazz Combos performance coming up in Westbrook

The UNL Small Jazz Ensembles performance will take place November 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Westbrook Recital Hall and is comprised of students at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

This concert in the Glenn Korff School of Music features four ensembles coached by DMA Jazz Studies majors Russell Zimmer, Aaron Stroessner, Max Stehr, and Jesse McBee. In addition, one advanced ensemble, coached by faculty member Dr. Darryl White, will be featured.

Each group will perform two or three selections, largely drawn from the standard jazz repertoire. While the various instructors bring in some song arrangements, student ensemble members also contribute to the concert program. Instrumentation varies from group to group; this particular concert includes the traditional piano, bass, and drums, but also the less typical clarinet, violin, vibraphone, and voice.

The event is free and open to the public.
