Mezzo-soprano Kate Butler, accompanied by Michael Cotton, piano, will sing a recital on October 25, 2015, 5 p.m., at Ebenezer Church (8th and B) in Lincoln.
The all-English language recital features musical settings of poems by Nobel Prize winning Irish poet William Butler Yeats (1865-1939), along with readings of some of his poetry. The recital also includes songs by Ralph Vaughan Williams, traditional Scottish and Irish songs, songs from Broadway (Gershwin, Bernstein, Sondheim) and concludes with a group of whimsical songs.
Butler is associate professor of music and voice area head at the UNL Glenn Korff School of Music where she teaches voice, graduate diction, undergraduate diction and literature (French, German, Italian, and English).
The performance is free and open to the public.
