Bailey’s rescheduled performance coming up on March 31

Faculty flutist John Bailey will present a solo recital on Thursday, March 31 dedicated to the flute works of 20th-century German composer Paul Hindemith (1895-1963) in the Westbrook Recital Hall at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music at 7:30 p.m.

On the program are Hindemith’s canonic sonatina for two flutes (performed with DMA student and Hixson-Lied fellow, Nicaulis Alliey), his Eight Pieces for solo flute, and the Sonata for Flute and Piano (performed with recent DMA graduate, Janka Krajciova). The final piece will be performed as a short lecture/recital, with discussion of aspects of the piece with musical illustrations.

Dr. John Bailey is the Richard H. Larson Distinguished Professor of Music (flute) and a member of the Moran Woodwind Quintet, the resident faculty quintet at the Glenn Korff School of Music.

This performance is rescheduled from February 2.

The performance is free and open to the public. This performance will also be live webcast.
