Two Nordic masterpieces will be performed by UNL Symphony Orchestra

The UNL Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Tyler White, presents two Nordic masterpieces of the early twentieth century on Sunday, May 1 at 3 p.m. in the Kimball Recital Hall. The orchestra will be joined by Chiara String Quartet violinist Hyeyung Yoon in the Violin Concerto in D minor, Op. 47 of Jean Sibelius. Also on the program is the epic Symphony No. 5, Op. 50 of Carl Nielsen.

Members of the Symphony Orchestra, directed by Tyler White, include students from throughout the university. The ensemble’s objectives are to prepare and present a wide variety of repertoire including chamber, symphonic, and operatic masterworks, and to maintain professional standards of musicianship and etiquette within a collegial and supportive educational atmosphere.
