UNL/LPS String Project performance coming up November 30

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln/Lincoln Public Schools String Project Fall Concert will take place Wednesday, November 30 at 6 p.m. at Park Middle School.

The performance will demonstrate what the third and fourth grade students have learned after ten weeks of classes working with students from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music.

The students are divided into two groups--the Vivaldi Ensemble with an enrollment of 60 students, and the Mozart Orchestra with 20 students. Students come from 20 LPS schools to participate in after-school classes at Park Middle School. These include Roper, Adams, Arnold, Beattie, Brownell, Eastridge, Fredstrom, Holmes, Huntington, Kahoa, Kloefkorn, Kooser, Maxey, Morley, Riley, Rousseau, Sheridan, Wysong, and Zeman, and several students who are homeschooled.

String Project staff members include the director, Dr. Karen Becker of the Glenn Korff School of Music, Master Teacher Dottie Ladman, and six Undergraduate Teachers who are pursuing degrees in Music Education in the Glenn Korff School of Music: Stephen Cantarero, Adella Hotchkiss, Alex Rogers, Melanie Sigel, Leah Waldvogel and Jake Wheeler.

"The String Project staff has been working very hard and can't wait to have the students demonstrate what they've learned over a relatively short period of time,” Becker said.
