University Singers to perform ‘Light and Life’ at Newman Center

“Light and Life” will be the title of the University Singers fall performance that will take place in the magnificent new campus Newman Center at the corner of 16th and Q Streets at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 12. It is free and open to the public.

The concert will combine a variety of choral works featuring brand new music plus historical works by G.F. Handel and also one of J.S. Bach’s famous students. The concert will begin with “O Light Eternal,” by a young Slovenian composer and include “Stars” by the Estonian composer Eriks Esenvalds, “Unclouded Day,” “Stars I Shall Find,” “Light of a Clear Blue Morning,” a new arrangement of “Yonder Come Day,” and other choral works journeying through uplifting and inspirational texts. The choir will join with Glenn Korff School of Music’s Professor of Saxophone, Dr. Paul Haar. Special guests will the the high school choir from Pius X High School in Lincoln, directed by Todd Krier.
